 THE BIOGRAPHY OF MALIKA
MUSIC COMPOSER*ARTIST*ACTRESS
Malika was born and raised in New York City, New York. She grew up in a multi-cultural neighborhood and started learning Spanish at the age of six. While excelling in the academic arena, she soon discovered she was also multi-talented as well. She started taking numerous classes in the arts honing her skills such as; ballet, taekwondo, karate, kickboxing, dance (modern, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, African, etc.,), gymnastics, figure skating and staff. In being exposed to so many cultures she also had the chance to learn about various forms of music and music styles, which she later incorporated into many of her song collaborations, singing, songwriting and composing orchestrations as an artist.
ACTING
As her talents developed, she decided to get more professional training and started training with Lawrence fishbornes’ former coach at Musical Theatre Works in the Village of New York City. Shortly after her intense training she landed a lead role starring in an independent film called “Harlem’s Beauty”, produced by reflection films by Mark McKenzie which is currently available on www.amazon.com.
In addition, she also took other smaller gigs as an extra in major A feature films such as; Spike Lee’s film “do the right thing”, tim burtons’ “Rock the Cradle”, a film with Rosie Perez, Angela Bassets’ “Music of the Heart” and others.
AT PRESENT
Most recently, Malika has been modeling for photographer/graphic artist/painter/professional writer Darryl Taylor Kravitz, whose work can be seen under any search engine. She is at present featured in 4 of his published photography books currently available on www.amazon.com
Malika is also a self-taught piano player that plays by ear. She has composed numerous classical, pop, pop/rock and hip hop, Rnb and jazz melodies. Her music has been featured at Colby Sawyer Colleges’ dance performance(s), documentaries by Danny Boy films, a TV Production titled “Beyond the Artz” (which she also co-hosted) and TV Commercial Pilots.
